Vestibular Dizziness (Sea Sick) w/ newer films

On some of the newer rides I'm experiencing some irritating and sometimes severe dizziness. It's similar to seasickness but the opposite - I'm stationary but what my eyes make me think I'm doing is moving. While on a boat you can stare at the horizon to bring get things matched up again, I can't mak...

Remote for TDA on MacOS ?

One thing I miss from TTS is the little remote on my handlebar. I used it surprisingly often, especially to change the % difficulty when I'd forget prior to a workout. Are there any good solutions floating around for an alternative?

Thanks

Re: Garmin Connect Merge Experience

Just thought I'd add that my Garmin merge has now been stable for about 10 days. Anecdotally it looks like they got things ironed out.

Still, Really bad form on Garmin's part to do this; during winter indoor training season, during Christmas and without proper QA.

Re: Garmin Connect Merge Experience

Glad it went somewhat well for you. I know of several people who have lost ride data and there are posts on FB and Garmin forums about it so I'm holding off. First I've heard about the disappearing films and images.

At the risk of endangering my smoothly running system... TDA (MacOS) has been rock solid on several Mac Mini's for me. Maybe consider that (or a used one from Apple or OWC).

Re: 4K Films ?

I wonder how many people (TACX users) don't realize that pretty much any TV on the market today (and likely most hand-me-downs in their own house) works as a display device? And how much difference a larger and better quality display makes? And how much prices have come down? And how easy it can be ...

Re: 4K Films ?

Agree about TACX quality. The shooting, editing and data/commentary are better than others I've seen. It's too bad it gets grunged in the last link. I'd definitely be willing to pay a bit extra per download to get a better file. In our new living room we've a Sony 65A8G OLED. Great image and fast pr...

Re: How to tell resolution of downloaded films?

I can't believe I didn't notice the bolding in the thumbnails. Thank you!

Yeah, the ones I've upgraded from 720 to 1080 are a definite improvement. I do miss the one's I tried in 4k on TTS, though I'll take 1080+TDA over all of the problems I had w/ TTS.

How to tell resolution of downloaded films?

Of films I've downloaded, how can I tell which are 720p vs 1080p (other than watching and guessing)?

Thanks,

Re: 4K Films ?

Thanks. Agree on the quality diffs vs file size for 4k vs 1080P. I think it might be worth it though... For some of us anyway. Similar to you I've a 52" 4K HDR so it is somewhat noticeable/appreciated. I'd downloaded a couple of 4K films prior and enjoyed them. I think perhaps they'd need to be...

4K Films ?

So I was thinking that once I had my 4K display connected to my 4K Apple TV that I could do some 4K TACX films. Was I imagining that such films exist? Mac TDA gives me search options for only 720P & 1080P, no 4K. On films I see HD720 and HD but no 4K.

??

Thanks,

Do you like having the fan up on a pedestal vs lower down? How high is the center of the fan?

Re: Good fan for cooling during workout ?

That's a great point about humidity that I'd not thought about. I'll have to pay closer attention to it. Our house overall has been about 50% the past couple of weeks. We have a uRAD A3 in our gym, primarily to monitor CO2 levels and I'm curious about how fast VOC's (from new rubber flloor, etc.) wi...

Re: Good fan for cooling during workout ?

Thanks all. Back to this again (we moved out of our old house in to a temp apt for a couple of months and just a couple of days ago moved in to our new house!) Does height make a difference? E.G., would a fan on a pedestal or a tower fan have any advantage or disadvantage over a floor fan? In some w...

Re: Display Height ?

Thanks. Good to get an experienced opinion. I think I"ll cheat it up a bit. This is against a sloped ceiling (loft) so somewhat limited in overall height but I think I can get the center up to about 54" leaving a 1" clearance to the ceiling.

Display Height ?

I'm inheriting a 40" curved Samsung 4K display for my TACX Neo 2. Thoughts on most comfortable height to mount it for a typical road bike? I'm guessing about 48" to the center of the display?

Thanks,

Re: Tacx Apps World Map (ok mostly EU map ;) )

I wonder if it'd be a lot easier from a programming standpoint to just have a fixed charge per download for 4k? Something like $5 maybe? I don't know that I'd want to pay for a higher per month subscription tier as the HD tier is pretty much all I can swallow. But I'd be willing to pay a few extra b...

That's quite encouraging. Amstel was one of my favorite TTS3 rides (as well as Flanders 2007). Yeah, I've downloaded all of the NL rides currently available as well as all of the various city rides and numerous others including Ghent (I'm downloading Schelde now - thx). All great stuff. Thanks. IIRC that pop up gave me an error message due to internet being down. I did look around a bit for a file but didn't find anything. I may look some more. Proper coding would have the files kept for some period of time, ideally user configured, not delete the file at the end regardless of any ...

Re: TDA lost workout

I found a version of TTS that was relatively stable and stuck with it. I believe it was 3.34 or something. I tried many newer releases of 3 and 4 but they all had too many issues. I only did maybe 30-40 rides per year so I'd guess I didn't have more than maybe 200 saved. It probably wouldn't have be...

I did a RLV workout (Amsterdam City) and about 3/4 of the way through I lost internet. Film was downloaded so only issue is that I lost satellite view so no real problem. Did you try downloading it? Streaming rarely works for me so I only do rides I've downloaded. Also note that anything above 720 requires a chunk of computing power (not TACX fault, just the nature of the beast).

Re: Where did the FTP test go?

The test is still there. In TDA go to 'Workouts' and then in the first dropdown select 'Workouts by TACX'. It was last updated 5 Feb 2020 so is under the grouping for 'This Year'.

It's helpful to read the description and follow their instructions. You will be totally knockered when done.
