We met with three other bent riders today (James, Magnus, and Simon) to ride up to Windsor Park. The day was full of mishaps from the beginning – when Nic’s left crank fell off two miles down! Being the local boy James came to the rescue and rode to the local bike shop to get a replacement nut..

So we were on our way to Windsor about an hour late, and although it stayed dry boy was it windy! When at last we got to Windsor Park – thirsty and hungry – there was a polo game on. Sedef spotted the burger / icecream van from a mile off and zoomed off through the field straight past one of the umpires (never seen her ride so fast before) and leaving the rest of us to politely and slowly beg our way through! She had already tucked into a massive cheeseburger by the time we got there!

Fortified with dirty burgers and icecream we made a big swoop around the park and set off back to Maidenhead. Just as we were getting out of the park onto the main road there was a loud crunch as Simon started pulling out on his new Seiran – his seat had broken clear off the bike! So James came to the rescue again, racing to fetch his car and give Simon a lift to the station..

Despite all the disasters, we really enjoyed the ride and it was great to put faces and bents to names at last …And in the words of James (organiser and Mr-Fix-It of the day) – it’s always good to get together a few bents to freak people out..Only one and you look like a lone nutter. Five and you look like….five nutters !
