We decided to have a break and de-stress in Kanpur, and celebrate New Year’s Eve with a nice meal and big bottle of beer!! Beer and whisky though heavily regulated through government shops, seems to be readily available in most places over the counter, though in very few restaurants. Alas wine on the other hand is non-existent outside of plush swanky hotels. We have seen Indian champagne for sale… though was not really tempted to try it!!
