After starting the day with a fortifying breakfast at our local cafe (Cafe Gold) we set off to Trafalgar Square. Arriving at Trafalgar Square we were greeted by Steven the photographer (sent by Siemens) and our friends and family who had come to see us off. After an amusing half hour of photo taking we finally got on the road to Sydney at 12:30pm. And despite passing 6 coffee shops Nic did the supreme sacrifice of not stopping at any of them!
Mid afternoon we were interviewed on the radio by Danny Kelly (BBC Radio London 94.9) where we talked about the whys and hows of the trip. 45 miles later we stopped at Rochester for our first night on the road – where we were met by a few friends (Kate, Aninda, and Shakey) who had come down to make sure we were going ! :p
