A quick bite at the local portuguese gourmet restaurant (ok, Nando’s!) brought an unexpected bonus. Having mentioned our trip to staff, we were greeted by the Manager Rowan who promptly gave us two Nando’s t-shirts for our travels. Thanks to Rowan and all staff at Nando’s Maidstone!

Afterwards we had to cut the day’s cycling short after getting sodden wet in torrential rain… a decision that was not too hard to make considering the roads we were on became mini rivers and each passing lorry kindly gave us on route muddy showers… Bags and clothes took two days to dry off!

We hadn’t even left the UK before first blood was drawn. Sedef had an unexpected introduction to the teeth of her chainring! Ouch…
