Progress through France has been slow since we have been staying on quieter country lanes whilst training and getting into shape for the two big challenges ahead of us: the Jura mountains into Switzerland, and crossing into Italy over the Alps.

After 2 weeks in France today we said farewell to the lovely food and warm welcoming people, and managed to make our way through the col on the Jura mountains – at 1045m the highest altitude we have climbed so far! However the freewheeling descent down to the Swiss customs at Valorbes and the lovely views going down made the pain of the climb all worthwhile! However Nic did not have much time to enjoy the view, going down at a breakneck speed of 70km per hour and screaming “wheeeeeeee” all the way down, overtaking cars as he went!
